It's easy to criticize House of Dark Shadows for recycling the first television story arc from Dark Shadows to feature Barnabas Collins. Keep in mind that Dark Shadows, a daily program, did not air in re-runs. Fans kept up with continuity and missed episodes via clubs and chain letters, so the story was probably new ground to most viewers.
