Huh. I was preparing to dismiss this guy when I read the first paragraph (come on, did you really "remember" seeing Carl Dryer's VAMPYR back in the day, Mr. Greenspun?). But, it's actually a pretty good critique of the film. I've never seen it in its entirety (didn't watch DS until the discs came out, and I've been impatiently awaiting the restorations), but I think his points are reasonable. HoDS is quite the devisive film. DS old-timers are all over the map, and regular people seem to be equally divided . I've read many comments from people who aren't DS folk who claim HoDS is one of their all-time favorite vampire movies.
