Dark Shadows returns, 1967 news clipping

This newspaper clipping from the Winnipeg Free Press in August, 1967, heralds the return of Dark Shadows to the airwaves. What's interesting is that neither Jonathan Frid nor Barnabas Collins are mentioned in the story.

Published just a few months after Frid's arrival at Collinwood, Dark Shadows still had not turned into "that soap opera about a vampire." As the new television season rolled around in 1967, the television show's marketing is still very much centered around actress Joan Bennett, who probably doesn't get enough credit for helping establish Dark Shadows. I wonder, had they not landed someone with Bennett's name recognition, would ABC have ever agreed to a show like Dark Shadows?
