Paranoia, Twitter and polite etiquette

As you may or may not know, I'm an occasional Twitterer (you can find my account HERE.) On Fridays, lots of folks take part in something called "Favorite Friends," where they used the hashtag #FF and share links to their favorite Twitter friends.

I've got some amazing readers who are active online and don't hesitate to share their opinions, and they boost my website every chance they get.  One of them even mailed me a collection of Dark Shadows mini-posters from Japan, which you can see at the top of this post. I've been lucky. If you're reading this right now, there's a good chance it's because of their work to promote this website.

BUT: I've never participated in #FF on Twitter, and for one simple reason: I'm worried I'll forget to mention someone. Every time #FF and @CousinBarnabas appear in the same tweet, I feel incredibly guilty because I never participate. I wouldn't even know where to begin.

So here's what I'm going to do. Instead of putting together Tweets with incorrect and/or incomplete lists of my favorite Twitter peeps, I promise to make an effort to re-tweet all of your #FF messages that have my name. I always read them and it's time I started showing my gratitude.

  1. Don't feel so guilty - it' sactually "Follow Friday", so you don't have to pick favorites. They're just recommendations!

    1. I'm actually toying around with the idea of doing occasional Q&A features with my more active Twitter friends.

I'd correct the post to read "Follow Friday," but it wouldn't obscure the fact that I can sometimes be a dumbass :)

  2. I don't do #FF either, for the same reasons you mentioned. If I see one with my name, I just send a tweet to the original poster (deleting all the other names) and say thank you.

And I'm one of your biggest fans, #FF notwithstanding! :-)
